What is Bitcoin SV?

Twice a year, the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) network hard forks as part of scheduled protocol upgrades. Unlike previous BCH hard forks, there was a competing proposal that was not compatible with the published roadmap. On November 15th, both groups started creating blocks in their respective, separate blockchains. Bitcoin SV (BSV) was created as a result of that split. 

When did this fork occur?

The fork occurred on November 15th, 2018, at block number #556766.

How much BSV have I been credited?

The amount of BSV that you have received is the same amount of BCH that you held in your Coinbase account at the time of the fork.

Will we get both BCH ABC and BSV?

BCH ABC retained the designation of BCH on Coinbase. If you had a BCH balance in your Coinbase account at the time of the fork, your BCH balance will remain the same.

Is Coinbase going to support BSV?

We do not currently support buy and sell functions for BSV on Coinbase.

However, BSV sends are now available on the Coinbase platform. You can view instructions on how to send BSV to an external cryptocurrency address by reading this help article.

Coinbase is not able to provide recommendations to third parties for where to send your BSV. You will need to research this information to determine where it would be best for you to send your funds.

Note: We do not accept BSV deposits, please don’t send BSV to Coinbase.

How can I send my BSV?

You can go to your Portfolio page and use the send functionality in your BSV Wallet to send these funds off of Coinbase. If you had a BSV Balance in Coinbase Pro or Prime, you will need to sign in to Coinbase with your Pro/Prime credentials to send your balance.

My BCH purchase was pending during the fork. Do I get BSV for that amount?

If your purchase was in pending during the fork, you will not receive the BSV for that amount. 

Coinbase does not offer a 1:1 splitting service of unsplit BCH coins. Please do not send your unsplit BCH coins to your BCH address as it will result in the loss of your BSV coins. We cannot recommend a third party to split these coins for you.
