What is Basic Attention Token?
The Basic Attention Token (BAT) is a token used in the digital advertising industry, beginning with the Brave web browser. How it’s used:
- Advertisers pay users for ad engagement (user attention)
- Publishers receive advertising revenue
- Users are paid for viewing ads, or can pay to avoid ads completely
Basic Attention Token conforms to the ERC20 token standard and can be stored in any ERC20-compatible Ethereum wallet including your Coinbase BAT wallet. For more information about BAT, please visit https://basicattentiontoken.org.
How do I buy BAT on Coinbase?
Coinbase customers from eligible regions can buy BAT on Coinbase.com, or trade on Coinbase Pro and Prime. To see which regions support trading BAT, please see our Supported Digital Currencies page.
Purchased BAT tokens will be displayed as an asset within your Coinbase wallet in your Portfolio page on Coinbase.com or in the Coinbase mobile app.
Can I send BAT to Coinbase?
Yes, but only to the BAT wallet in your Coinbase account. Although BAT is on the Ethereum network, it supported separately from ETH and ETC. Please be sure to send BAT to and from Coinbase the same way you send all other assets on the platform, within their own separate wallet. BAT is an Ethereum ERC20 token, and will be displayed as an asset within your Coinbase wallet. Select the "Deposit" button next to your BAT wallet to view your BAT deposit address.
Important Reminder: Do not send BAT tokens to any Coinbase wallet addresses other than your BAT wallet.Coinbase will not be able to recover missent tokens.
If you send to an external (non-Coinbase) address or wallet that does not support BAT, Coinbase is not responsible for that transaction. If you have sent BAT to an external address that does not support Ethereum ERC20 tokens, you will need to directly contact the support team of that wallet to get help.
What if I sent BAT to my Coinbase ETH wallet before Coinbase added support for BAT?
Any BAT sent to your Coinbase ETH wallet addresses prior to Coinbase supporting BAT has been credited to your ETH wallet.
