Using Destination Tags on Coinbase
How do I find the destination tag on Coinbase?
To receive on Coinbase:
- Go to Receive [crypto name]
- Under the Wallet Address tab, you’ll be shown the wallet address AND Tag
To send from Coinbase:
- Send [crypto name]
- Under the Wallet Address tab, you’ll need to enter a Recipient (address) AND Tag (Destination Tag)
What happens if I input an incorrect Destination Tag to send funds to Coinbase?
You must always include the correct Destination Tag before sending a deposit to Coinbase. Omitting or using an incorrect Destination Tag will cause a delay in crediting the transaction to your Coinbase account. Under certain circumstances, these funds may not be creditable.
Coinbase encourages the use of small test sends to ensure the address and destination tag are correct.
If you attempted to send funds to Coinbase without a Destination Tag, those funds will not be received by Coinbase. Please contact the wallet owner or support team, from which you sent the funds to Coinbase, to get help.
What happens if I send funds from Coinbase without a Destination Tag to a wallet or exchange which requires Destination Tag?
These funds will have already left your Coinbase wallet and therefore Coinbase cannot retrieve them. Please contact the receiving wallet owner or support team to get help.
