Device confirmation troubleshooting

Coinbase uses Device Verification, a feature that requires all devices and IP addresses to be authorized before they can access your account. This process should only need to be completed once for each device or location. After it is completed, we will process future login attempts as normal.

Authorizing a New Device

In order to authorize a device, you will need to select the confirmation link in the email we sent you. If you did not receive the email, please check your Spam or Trash folders. It may be necessary to add us to your email contacts ([email protected]) to prevent our messages from being flagged as spam. 

If you use Gmail they may filter it into the Social or Promotional tabs. If you want to use the search feature in your email to find the message, the subject line of the email should be "New Device Confirmation."

If the link is invalid or you receive an error message that it has expired, it’s likely caused by too many login attempts without successfully confirming the device. For each of these attempts an email was sent, and only the newest email is valid. Please wait until all previous verification emails have arrived and then delete them, then start the process again to ensure the email you receive contains a valid link. This authorization must also be started and completed on the same device at the same location.

Re-Authorizing a Device

In some cases, you may be prompted to verify a device that has previously been verified. This usually happens if you clear the cache and cookies from your browser after already having verified the device. It can also happen in some cases if you’re using a different browser, using your browser’s "private browsing" or "incognito" mode, or when using a VPN service or the TOR network.

If this happens, you should be able to quickly verify the device again using the steps listed above. Remember to try only once and wait for the confirmation email to arrive.
